A transparent look at the partners and tools we use aboard Roam — from formal relationships to gear we’ve chosen and paid for ourselves. Everything here has earned its place through real use.

Tools & Partners Used on Roam
Used Aboard Roam — tools and partners that have earned their place through real-world use and experience.

We work with a mix of partners and tools that have earned a place aboard Roam through real use. Some relationships are formal partnerships, others are simply products we’ve chosen and paid for because they work.

When a relationship includes affiliate links or discounts, we disclose that clearly. When it doesn’t, we share what we know anyway — because being genuinely helpful matters to us.

Partners

Cromox

Cromox produces high-strength stainless anchor chain designed for offshore use. We chose Cromox for its strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance, especially important on a cruising catamaran where weight and reliability both matter.

ClampTite Tools

ClampTite tools allow us to fabricate stainless wire hose clamps onboard using a single tool and spool of wire. They’ve become a permanent part of our toolkit, especially for plumbing, cooling, and fuel systems where reliability and corrosion resistance are critical.

UGO Wear

UGO Wear makes waterproof soft goods designed for real use in wet, abusive environments. Aboard Roam, we rely specifically on their messenger bag and tablet and phone cases — items that get used daily and don’t get a free pass when conditions are bad.

ECO Sistems

Eco Sistems designs marine watermakers that convert seawater into fresh water using low-power, reverse-osmosis technology. Their compact, modular systems are built for energy efficiency, easy maintenance, and reliable performance aboard cruising vessels, making fresh water autonomy more practical for long passages.

Tools We Use

These are tools and brands we use regularly aboard Roam. We do not have partnerships or affiliate relationships with these companies unless explicitly stated.

QIDI Tech

QIDI FDM printers have allowed us to fabricate custom parts, mounts, and tools onboard and during the refit. Being able to prototype and print parts has saved time, money, and more than a few trips to the chandlery. That said, if you can afford a Bamboo Labs FDM printer, they're better.

Knipex

Knipex hand tools are a staple in our toolbox for electrical, mechanical, and rigging work. Their cutters and pliers are reliable, precise, and hold up well in a marine environment.

Festool

Festool tools have played a big role in our refit work, especially for dust-controlled sanding and cutting. They’re not cheap, but they work so much better than Rigid, Dewalt, or Ryobi, it isn't even a competition.

Sailrite

Sailrite has been a go-to resource for sewing tools, materials, and education. From canvas work to repairs, they’ve helped us take on projects we might otherwise have outsourced.

  • Partner links may include affiliate links or discount codes. If so, that will always be disclosed anywhere they're linked.
  • Tools We Use links are shared with no compensation or relationship.
  • We don’t recommend products we haven’t used ourselves and love. And if our opinion changes, we'll let you know that as well.

If something appears here, it’s because it’s earned its place aboard Roam.
