Roam

Roam

a 2013 Nautitech 542 cruising catamaran. As with all boats, she has lots of specifications which I’ll list below in painful detail. For us though, she’s a platform to launch our adventures, chase our dreams, and help satisfy our curiosity. When we purchased her from her second caretakers, Christophe and Sabine, she already had some upgrades to support their cruising adventures. We decided to spend some time getting to know her before we started thinking about what we would want to change.

Mama bear, Papa bear, or Baby bear?

At 53.5-feet (16.4 meters) long and 28-feet wide (8.55 meters), she’s not the smallest cruising catamaran in the ocean but also far from the biggest. She’s just right for us. Small enough that we can handle her with just two of us on board and big enough that we’re comfortable and have all our toys and the conveniences we want. Her length, hull design, and displacement (weight) also make her a pretty fast cruising catamaran but not a “high-performance” boat.
